Our Story

From the open roads of America to the Welsh border

My name’s Robert Tulkrom - founder, builder, and still the first one in the garage every morning. Tulkrom Customs began as a one-man obsession and grew into an internationally recognised workshop, building machines with purpose and presence.

The Early Days

I was born and raised in Michigan, USA. The kind of place where Harley-Davidsons rumble through small towns and bike culture is part of your blood. I spent my teenage years in garages, taking things apart just to understand how they worked. For me, bikes weren’t just transport - they were the clearest expression of freedom and function I'd ever seen.

In the early 90s, I crossed the Atlantic - not for business, but for love. I met my partner on a road trip through Europe, fell for both her and the rolling countryside, and before I knew it, I was living in the UK. We settled in a small village near the Welsh border. Quiet. Peaceful. But just enough wild to keep things interesting.

Building Tulkrom Customs

I started with nothing more than a shed, a welder, and a reputation back home. Word spread fast. First, local lads wanted tweaks to their bikes. Then collectors came calling. Before long, I was working on builds that would end up in private collections, magazines, and even the odd film set. You might have seen one of ours on screen - we never brag, but we’re proud of where our bikes end up.

Tulkrom Customs now ships bikes worldwide - from Tokyo alleyways to desert highways in California. But the heart of it hasn’t changed. We're still based right here in the countryside. Still designing. Still fabricating. Still riding.

Our Philosophy

What we do isn’t just about horsepower or flashy finishes - it’s about balance. We build bikes where form meets function. Where style doesn’t come at the cost of rideability. Every bike is designed to be ridden, but built to be remembered.

We don’t believe in shortcuts. We don’t believe in off-the-shelf solutions. Every project is bespoke - we sit down with you, understand what you need, and create something that feels personal. Something you’ll be proud to throw a leg over every time.
